People would take 'Twilight' and 'Harry Potter' into 2012

With the upcoming release of 2012 (on November 13th), starring John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Amanda Peet, Danny Glover, and Oliver Platt, Sony Pictures has been doing a bit of interesting promotion for the film.

One such was to make a site where fans of film, art, literature, and music were asked what parcel from each category they would like to take into the year 2012 - a year that certain cultures believe to be of grave importance in the human timeline.

Fans voted, and fansites like Harry Potter's Page and the Twilight Lexicon noted that their respective series were nominated in the various categories.

For films, fans voted Twilight as the number one movie they'd take into 2012, followed by Moonwalker and the Star Wars series.

For art, the "Mona Lisa" was the number one selection, followed by another Da Vinci, "The Last Supper," and Michaelangelo's "David."

For books, J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series won out as the piece of literature that fans would take into the year 2012, followed by Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series in second place, and William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet in third.

For music, the nominations are now complete, and the voting period will begin on September 28th and end on October 4th.
